Ignition Coil Replacement: labor quote guide
Typical labor time (approximate)
About 0.3 to 3.0 hours. About 0.3 to 3 hours. A single coil-on-plug coil on an inline engine is quick; rear-bank coils on V6/V8 engines, under the intake, take longer.
Disclaimer: Hour ranges are rough, general estimates for common cars and light trucks, not figures from a published labor guide. Real time varies widely with the vehicle, engine, drivetrain, rust and condition. Check your labor guide (e.g. your shop's subscription) for the exact vehicle before quoting.

FAQ
One coil or all?
Confirm the misfire follows the coil by swapping cylinders. Some customers choose to do all of them on high-mileage vehicles. Quote both options.
Spark plugs at the same time?
If the plugs are near their interval, quoting them together saves labor overlap.
Misfire but coil is fine?
Check the plug, injector, compression and wiring before replacing parts.
