Typical labor time (approximate)
About 0.7 to 2 hours. Roughly 0.7 to 2 hours per joint. Rusted caps, staked OE joints or front axle U-joints on 4x4s take longer.
Approximate only: a rough general range, not labor-guide data. Times vary widely by vehicle and condition. Check a labor guide for the exact vehicle. How we estimate
The quote buttons open the labor-quote calculator prefilled; "Start an estimate" adds a labor line to the estimate & invoice generator. Add your own rate, parts and tax.

FAQ
How do I know a U-joint is bad?
Play or binding when rotating the shaft by hand, rust dust around the caps, clunks or vibration.
Greaseable or sealed?
Greaseable joints can be serviced. Sealed joints often last longer if not abused. Either is fine when correctly matched.
Why mark the driveshaft?
Keeping the original orientation helps maintain balance and phasing.
