Differential Fluid Service: labor quote guide
Typical labor time (approximate)
About 0.5 to 1 hours. About 0.5 to 1 hour per axle. Units without a drain plug that need the cover removed, or limited-slip units that need additive, take longer.
Approximate only: a rough general range, not labor-guide data. Times vary widely by vehicle and condition. Check a labor guide for the exact vehicle. How we estimate
The quote buttons open the labor-quote calculator prefilled; "Start an estimate" adds a labor line to the estimate & invoice generator. Add your own rate, parts and tax.

FAQ
Why loosen the fill plug first?
If the fill plug is seized, you don't want the unit drained with no way to refill it.
Limited slip?
Some limited-slip differentials need a friction modifier. Check the specification.
How often?
Follow the manufacturer's schedule. Towing and severe service often shorten it.
